Terms and Conditions

1. Enrolment

1.1 Enrolment is for the remainder of the year 2024. If a student wishes to withdraw before the year is complete Dance School of Tamim must be notified in writing, with the date of withdrawal being no earlier than the date of notification.

2. Fees Policies & Procedures

2.1 Prices are per term. Invoices are emailed at the beginning of each term and are due within 7 days, unless prior payment arrangements have been made. A 10% late penalty is administered for fees not paid by the due date detailed on an invoice.

2.2 Failure to pay fees may result in the loss of the enrolment position.

2.3 Term Fees are based on an average of nine weeks per term, with a minimum number of eight weeks, to take into consideration statutory holidays. There is no extra charge for a ten-week term.

2.4 Term Fees left unpaid at the end of each term may be put in the hands of a debt collector and you will be liable for any additional costs associated with collection and recovery.

2.5 Dance School of Tamim reserves the right to alter fees without prior notice. We will, however, inform parents of any changes as soon as possible.

2.6 Payment plans can be arranged with the Director of Dance School of Tamim.

3. Refund Polices & Procedures

3.1 Refunds are not given for students who have enrolled but do not attend class. Refunds may be available for students who are absent from class due to illness, injury, or personal circumstances, provided that students are absent for more than 3 consecutive weeks and Dance School of Tamim has been informed at the time. Refunds are not given for students who are absent for holidays.

3.2 Refunds are available if a student is leaving the school in the middle of a term and Dance School of Tamim has been notified in writing at the time. Refunds are not available retrospectively.

3.3 Partial term fees will be calculated on the basis of $25 admin fee being charged, and the classes not attended deducted pro rata on the basis of the minimum eight-week guarantee. Students who have left the school and wish to return will need to re-enrol, and Dance School of Tamim reserves the right not to accept them.

3.4 In cases of illness or injury one make-up class per term can be arranged. All make up classes must be within the same term and only in classes where positions are available, and subject to teacher approval.

3.5 If the teacher must cancel a class(s) due to illness or other unforeseen circumstances, arrangements will be made with the students involved for a make-up lesson(s). Credits/refunds are only given when a make-up class does not occur.

3.6 All statutory holidays are observed. Where classes fall on public holidays, no make-up classes or credits/refunds are given.

4. Class Uniform Policy

4.1 All students must be appropriately dressed for class with the correct dance footwear. No primary or secondary school uniforms are to be worn and no excess jewellery is to be worn in class.

4.2 All students must purchase and wear the correct Dance School of Tamim regulation uniform for their grade and/or genre within the first term of starting classes. Hair should be neatly groomed and secured off the dancer’s face.

4.3 Any student inappropriately dressed or groomed will not be able to participate in class activities for health and safety reasons.

4.4 All students should bring a water bottle to each class

4.5 All property should be marked clearly with the student’s name.

5. Notifications

Notices will be sent by email. Please ensure we have your most up to date email address, and a backup email address should there be any difficulties.

6. Health, Safety, Injury & Medical Conditions Policies & Procedures

6.1 Dance School of Tamim is not liable for any personal injury sustained or any loss or damage of personal property whilst on the premises.

6.2 Dance School of Tamim will aim to provide a safe learning environment to reduce the risk of injury. It should be recognised by all students, parents/guardians that dance by its very nature carries a risk of injury or accident.

6.3 Dance School of Tamim provides qualified and/or experienced dance teachers, who actively promote safe dance practice. This being the case it should be realised that injuries do occur from time to time and students must accept this element of risk.

6.4 It is the student, parent/caregivers responsibility to notify the teacher before the class starts of any prior injury, medical condition or treatment which may affect a student’s participation in class.

6.5 A first aid kit is available to any student through their teacher. Dance School of Tamim does not provide anyone with Panadol, ibuprofen or the equivalent, or administer any medication without prior written consent from a parent/caregiver.

6.6 Dance School of Tamim students are under supervision whilst in class time only, while we endeavour to provide a safe environment, staff cannot be responsible for students outside of their allocated class time.

7. Class Attendance Policy

7.1 Students must be punctual to classes to ensure that they receive a complete warm-up. Regular class attendance is essential for students to develop and keep abreast of their syllabus work.

7.2 Please advise the teacher if a student is not able to attend class. Messages can be left by texting Erika on 021 074 2227 or emailing [email protected]

8. Examinations, Presentations and Tests

8.1 All syllabus for Ballet and Spanish Dance are taught with the intention of students working towards sitting an examination. Students will be entered into examinations at the discretion of the teacher in consultation with students and parents/caregivers.

8.2 Examination fees and Exam Rehearsals are in addition to term fees. Exam fees are only refundable according to the relevant Syllabus Body’s Terms and Conditions. Dance School of Tamim’s exam rehearsal fees are refundable less a $20 admin fee.

9. Concert & Costume Policies & Procedures.

9.1 It is not compulsory for a student to be involved in the annual concert/demonstration or any other performances, however, it is strongly encouraged.

9.2 Students participating in the concert/demonstration are required to attend extra rehearsals, dress rehearsals, and all performances.

9.3 Parents and caregivers are permitted backstage and in the changing room area if they are an allocated helper for that performance. Non-helpers are not permitted backstage. All children are supervised during rehearsals and performances.

9.4 Each dancer must complete a Concert Consent form signed by a parent/caregiver in order to participate in the Concert. Consent fees are non-refundable.

9.5 Costs of costumes for the concert can be anywhere from $50-$200+ per costume and remain the property of the dancer. From time-to-time costumes are hired and must be returned to the studio. Costume deposits are non-refundable.

9.6 Any student with unpaid Term Fees at the time of the concert will not be eligible to participate.

10. Photography & Videoing of Students

10.1 Photography or videoing of students in class and at concerts/demonstrations is not permitted. This is to ensure the safety and wellbeing of each individual and to comply with the Privacy Act 1993 regulations.

10.2 Parents/caregivers may film their own child in class during Watching Week which is usually the last week of each term and will be advised.

10.3 From time-to-time students will be filmed by the teacher in order for students to practice at home. These videos will be sent to that classes WhatsApp group. None of this content may be shared further.

11. Choreography

11.1 Choreography for classes and performances remains the artistic and intellectual property of Dance School of Tamim and /or the syllabus providers. Choreography must not be copied or used without the prior permission of Dance School of Tamim.

11.2 Students who leave Dance School of Tamim are not permitted to perform choreography that was developed specifically for them by Dance School of Tamim teachers without prior permission.

12. Privacy Act

12.1 Dance School of Tamim enrolment form collects personal information about the student. Under the privacy Act 1993 you are entitled to have access to and request correction of this information at any time. All personal information is held on site at Dance School of Tamim, 54 Scott Road, Stanmore Bay, Auckland, New Zealand.

13. Contact Information

13.1 It is the responsibility of parents to advise Dance School of Tamim promptly of any changes in address, telephone, and email addresses.

14. Private Lessons

14.1 Private lessons are by arrangement with the teacher and must be pre-paid.

14.2 Private lessons missed without reasonable notice of 24 hours in advance will not be refunded.

15. Dismissal

15.1 Students and parents/guardians are expected to be respectful of fellow students, parents, and teachers at all times. Dance School of Tamim maintains the right to dismiss any student who breaches any of the stated terms and conditions, damages property or causes severe disruption in any classes. This decision is made at the discretion of the Director of Dance School of Tamim.
